Dear 2014,
You have been a wonderful year to
me, more so than many others. Here’s to the five best things that made it fly
so fast that it was so difficult to digest that it’s time to say goodbye to you
already. (Though in no particular order)
1. My First Job + Salary:
Only I know how much
I had to work against all odds to get into a core job. It was pure
determination and passion that helped me pick myself up at the lowest of times
other than of course the love and support from friends and family. Finally, on
February 19th 2014, I received the fruits of all my efforts J Thanks to Mom, Dad,
Sis and all my friends who have been my pillars of support throughout.
On October 1st,
2014 – Received the first salary of my life- it was one of the biggest
achievements of my life J
2. Family 2.0:
The only thing
that should be expanding, other than the ever expanding universe, should be
your family. You should always be surrounded by your loved ones. And this year,
I had the pleasure of welcoming Jiju and his family into mine :) Jiju, gear up
to treat your Saali with lots of gifts!! :D :D
3. Friends worth keeping:
When the
pressure of outperforming was high, when there were lonely nights with homesickness,
when you just needed an ear that would listen or someone who will push you
beyond your limits, there were people in my life who did exactly that : My
first roommate (other than my sister of course) An amazing roomie who was
everything you would wish for and more. Thank you babe J To all my friends in IIT and
Vashi, thank you for everything and cheers to more good times with you all! J
4. Shah Rukh Khan:
Hahaha, this
year brought me closer to my reel-life hero. After creating a twitter account to
just follow him, I got a personally autographed poster from him- no wonder I
had a good feeling about this year altogether.
And then thanks
to my wonderful roommate, I got a chance to see him live. Man, that was
awesome. To hear that voice, see that smile, watch him do his signature step,
everything blew my mind. (Bonus point: I got to see myself on National
Television, Colors TV)
This year
started and ended with SHAH RUKH KHAN! :D
5. Being
called, a (post)graduate of IIT Bombay:
It was something
beyond my wildest dreams that I can be a graduate from IIT Bombay. A tee shirt
explains everything we feel at IIT: “My Two Biggest Achievements at IIT B,
Somehow Got In, Somehow Got out!” :D I proudly call myself a graduate of IIT
Bombay after long nights in the lab, midnight snacks, amazing friends, stupid
crushes, months spent writing reports, managing classes with project, learning
new languages and culture, infinite freedom and possibilities…
Feeling nostalgic as I finish
this blog article, but I end it with a big smile on my face… Thank you 2014;
you make me confident enough to embrace the new year with open arms.
Sincerely,
Sravya
